A Business Fable About Debunking The 5 Lies Attorneys Believe Are True
Attorney and managing partner Jeff Simpson has spent years of his legal career stressed out, unfulfilled, confused, and unhappy, and he can’t seem to pinpoint exactly why. When he encounters Amy Thorngood, a managing partner at another law firm, he notices she seems to have it all figured out. She agrees to share what she’s learned, and over a series of 1:1 coffee dates-turned-coaching sessions, Jeff’s perspective begins to shift. With Amy’s help, Jeff discovers he’s been operating his whole career under the illusion of what she calls The 5 Lies. These problematic beliefs that are often at the core of what leads so many attorneys to misery and burnout include:
You have to grind all the time to be successful.
If you’re not busy, you’re lazy.
You have to be available 24/7 for clients.
Money will make you happy.
Asking for help is weakness.
Through their sessions and discussions of The 5 Lies, Amy empowers Jeff to once again see the law as a noble profession, showing him how he can reach his full potential, regain his confidence and swagger, and achieve more at work and at home.
Learn from Jeff and Amy how you can create your own rules and write your own story. Empower yourself to undergo a deep personal and professional transformation and realize your personal growth is not only a continuous path, but is essential for you to be the lawyer you are meant to be.
